I'm so pleased with how this has turned out and I would love to hear your comments everyone. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, That is what I'm here for.

Now on with the show.

Here are a a few detail photos of the project showing some of the amazing texture that I was able to create with the ribbons and trim.

And the entire canvas in all its creative glory!!!

A Bit About Paper Crafter’s Library

Fearless Friends in Art Guest Blogger Series- Jamie Dougherty

Hello everyone and welcome to another wonderful Fearless Friends in Art Guest Blogger series post. Today I'm so amazingly honored to have a mentor, idol and friend sharing. The very first time I saw this ladies work on the Tattered Angels blog, I was blown away. Her art made me want to be more creative myself and it was because of her work that I grabbed my first bottles of Glimmer Mist (which is now a full blown addition lol). I was so very blessed this past January to meet this bright light in person and let me tell you, she is as good as they get. A gentle soul, who is following her dreams and gives me the strength everyday to embrace myself as an artist. Without further adieu, I bring you Jamie Dougherty...

Hi everyone :) I am honored to be a guest on the beautiful Miss Erika's Blog today. If you ask her, she'll tell you I'm somewhat of a schizophrenic artist. No I don't have multiple personalities telling me to paint the canvas, more like multiple things I want to do. I love to paint, scrapbook, mixed media, I even like to write. I love to try new things and find that it keeps my ideas fresh. My mom often asks how I keep track of all the stuff I do. Well, I really don't have an answer for that lol. If I did, it would probably scare you, heck I'd probably scare me!

Here is a project I recently finished, I would like to share and give a few techniques and products I used to create it.

I used a 12 x 24" Canvas Corp. canvas to paint this mixed media piece. I started by sketching the girls face onto the canvas. The canvas is raw so I was able to erase any mistakes I made while sketching. I then used Prismacolor Watercolor pencils to color her face. Next I used Black Gesso (Golden Mediums) and painted the rest of the canvas. Once the gesso was dried I used Molding Paste (Tip: Molding Paste is an awesome medium to use with stencils and masks to create diminution on a scrapbook page) and blended it with Acrylic paint I used a palette knife and applied it as her hair. Once that set a bit I blended white gesso into it to create the highlights in her hair. This also helps smooth out the molding paste a bit. I used Some of Prima's Vintage Trinkets and flowers, to give her a head piece. her little crown is a Canvas Corp banner. I added details to her eyes with India Ink and White Opaque Copic paint.

This piece makes me want to do a Digital piece with the same style. Might have to try that. ;)

Mixed Media is popular right now in the crafting industry and the same artistic techniques can also be used when scrapbooking. Use the prismacolor watercolors on a patterned paper to add dimension. Or use Gesso as a background to a photo. Use India Ink to outline your page or doodle a fun design, there are so many possibilities. Don't be afraid to try something new and step outside of your comfort zone. :)

Thank you for letting me visit Erika!

If you would like to see more of my work, or learn more about my book, you can find me here:

Thank you

And have a creative weekend

A Large Steampunk Canvas to Share

I've been sitting on these amazing gears from Basically Bare since I first got them. Knowing that they would become a part of a canvas, just waiting for the full idea to come to fruition. Then it struck!!!! and let me tell you, out of all the things I've created since I started crafting, this is my favorite by far.

Hi everyone, I'm here today to share with you a large canvas piece I created using Bare Basics Gears set 1 and 2 as well as the bricks from the Climbing Ivy Set. First off for the gears, I've embossed them using a few different colors and also masked a few of them, to create dimension. The bricks have been painted with Glimmer Mist and for the mortar I used Glass Bead Medium.

With a few of the gears, I've double embossed to really give texture. You can see that in the photo below.

You'll also see that I've used a few different colors on the gears to give them a vintage /rusted feel.

I absolutely love how the bricks turned out. I used a combination of Marmalade, Harvest Orange, and Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist on them.

Yum yum yum!!!This canvas, although quite large, was so fun to create. I wanted a real industrial feel with just a touch of whimsy, hence the feathers and butterflies. To make this whole project come together, I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Helmar Premium Craft Glue.

Thank you so so very much for stopping by today. I'm honored to be able to show you some different things you can do with the Basically Bare embellishments. Possibilities are truly endless.

Until next time

Donna Salazar Guest Designer

Hello Everyone and Happy Day to you all. Today I've got a really exciting post for you with my creations for my Guest Designer Spot for Donna Salazar. I've adored Donnas products for quite some time and when I was asked to be a Guest Designer, I am pretty sure I "Inked". These papers are truly a dream to work with and I hope that my creations inspire you.

I was originally going to create a few cards and an altered project, but after digging in, I just couldn't hold back. Those 3 projects turned into 9!!! Inspiration works like that though doesn't It?? And to say I was inspired by Donnas products would be an understatement.

So here we go. First off the cards I created using the beautiful Spring in Bloom, Antiquities and Artistic Paper lines. The first card uses a little burlap and I've cut out the roses from the Artistic Papers. They are colored with Distress Inks and then a little Fairy Dust Glitter was added for that extra "WOW" (with a name like Fairy Dust, How could a fairy lover resist???)

The second card used the Antiquities collection, that wonderful Artistic Papers and Fairy Dust Glitter again. I jazzed up the one butterfly with a bit of Stickles to make her a little more "unique".

Now onto what was originally, my last project. I used the Crafty Chronicle to create this bangle. Adding some distress ink and Helmar Crackle Medium to really distress it. So So purdy. I really like how this one turned out, however the photos don't do it justice.

Now I couldn't stop there. Next came a set of 5 tags. I used a bunch of tidbits from The Crafty Chronicle. Quotes, images, and goodness abound!!! This first tag is made from the flower images on the first page of Crafty Chronicle and  a good helping of Fairy Dust Glitter. I think it is my favorite...

Now onto the next four. All of these use Antiquities, Spring in Bloom and Crafty Chronicles goodness. Here they are...

Man I love this stuff. It just flows so easily and is truly top notch, when you look at quality. The colors are soft yet grungy, which I happen to LOVE LOVE LOVE, the images are perfect for the fussy cutter in me, and the Glitter is divine!!!

Last, but certainly not least, is my favorite project of all. A 6 x 6 canvas created using bits and pieces from Crafty Chronicle, Antiquities and Spring In Bloom. I also did some stamping with the Fairy Dust Glitter and LOVE the look.

So there you have it. Thank you so so so very much Donna for giving me the opportunity to work with you wonderful paper collections. They are truly stunning!!! If you haven't used Donna Salazar products before, take a leap and try. You will be moved with inspiration I'm  certain.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all have a very crafty day
