Hi Everyone and happy Friday. Yup the end of the week is here and the tree is finally decorated. Still have to wrap all the gifts and cookies... well we'll see what time permits. Yesterday I shared with you an update on a pair of 1978'ish earrings using Tattered Angels and Helmar products and today those two pair up again to update an old Party Lite candy holder I've had for a long time. I always liked this little holder. Think it is the celestial soul in me. Anything to do with suns, moons and stars has always gotten my attention.Or maybe it is the wizard hat shape. Calling HARRY POTTER!!!!!
So why update something you love? Well why not!?!? I loved it before and now I'm absolutely over the "moon" for it. Here is an original photo
And now after it has gotten some serious love from Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Glimmer Glams, Glimmer Chips and some crepe ribbon. TADA!!!!!!
Oh my goodness, I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about this creation. I was over at Finnabairs Blog admiring her work when BLAMMO!!!! The inspiration bug hit. Thank you Finnabair *hugs*. So out came the sand paper and then the gesso. I started spraying a few light colors of Glimmer Mist first. Key Lime Pie, Lemon Zest and Apple. Then I started painting on, with a sponge brush, some Dirty Martini Glimmer Glam. Dry Dry Dry then off to my second group of Glimmer Mist Colors. Out came the Tiger Lily and the Haunted Shadows.
I just couldn't stop. A little here a drop or two there. Finally I added a touch of Mermaid and Bordeaux Glimmer Glam here and there. Now to start the base. I so love the Tattered Angels Crepe papers. So fun to work with, and the texture you can create is breath-taking. Once everything was dry, I applied Helmar Antique Acrylic Seal to keep those rich Tattered Angels colors permanent.
A closer look you say? Certainly. For the crepe paper, I used the same colors as I did with the candle holder. What I did was spray them directly onto my craft mat, then placed the crepe paper into it to absorb. YUMMO!!! I adhere it using a combination of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. Love how they work with the Crepe.
The final touches: a little Glimmer Chip, some twigs and a tonne of beads that I attached using Helmar Gemstone Adhesive. Love how this stuff dries clear so that all the Tattered Angels goodness shines through. Even with the lights off and this candle holder working its magic, Tattered Angels shines through. I think we can safely say this was a project that with the help of Tattered Angels and Helmar went from drab to FAB!!!
Let me know your thoughts today. Would you love to see a tutorial about a project like this? Your thoughts and comments are so very much appreciated.
Now off to try and wrap some Christmas presents....
