This weeks Card Patterns Sketch #4 and Pink Elephant challenge #4 got me thinking. "How about you create a card that your nephew, who is 18, would maybe buy Erika". So I decided to get my "that rocks" mojo going. Here is the sketch First I decided on a pretty trendy color palette. For the card I used Real Red and Black Linen CS. The paper is from the Rockabilly designer paper series. After seriously distressing the edges of the red, I then added the black linen on top. For the side it was the red skulls and polka dots. A girl has gotta stay girlie ya know.
Now back to the black Linen. I used a flourish stamp from the Autumn leaves Flourishes II set. Stamped it with a opalite ink, then drew over the ink with a black marker (the type that looks like an embossing job has been done). Now those flourishes weren't showing up as much as I wanted them to, so i took my snow cap white ink and sponged it over the black. Taking a baby wipe to get rid of the white that was on top of the flourishes. Well well those flourishes went KAPOW!! Perfect. So all I have left is the ovals.
For the ovals on the opposite side, I used 3 different spellbinders ovals, of the 3, I turned one on it's side. Then I have this great ribbon in, you guessed it, polka dots, that had to find a home on this card. Made some slits on the ovals and tied a knot with the ribbon. As well as put a piece across the card. The little Hello tag and the heart tag were from a little pack of acetate die cuts from valentine. I used a white souffle pen to give that Hello a little more light. I think this card is definitely ROCKIN!
